YNTS Drum Class Honors Elders Through Song and Celebration

Students in the Drum Class at Yakama Nation Tribal School recently spent a special evening honoring elders through song, culture, and community connection.

During the event, students proudly shared songs and participated in a meaningful gathering dedicated to recognizing the wisdom, guidance, and important role elders hold within the community. The evening provided students with an opportunity to celebrate culture, strengthen connections across generations, and represent their school with pride and respect.

School staff expressed gratitude to everyone who helped organize and support the event, making it a memorable experience for students, families, and community members alike. Special thanks were also shared with the elders whose teachings, leadership, and support continue to guide and inspire younger generations.

The event highlighted the importance of cultural traditions and community-centered learning while giving students the opportunity to honor and uplift those who have helped shape their lives and community.

YNTS is proud of its students for the respect, pride, and heart they brought to the evening’s celebration.
